Just how enabling is this board?

Let's just say that within the first week of signing onto this board, I put TWO decent size orders into AG! (I guess I should count my recent ebay wins too!) After reading the posts, I've gained alot of appreciation for the Historical Girl accessories and furniture and the thought of any retiring before me getting my hands on them is too much to bear. Before the board, I enjoyed my dolls and the clothes but never actually thought to use them other than models so THANK YOU ALL for bringing my enjoyment to a whole new level.

Judiaci got me interested in my Bitty Baby again after I saw her adorable photos. [img]graemlins/angel.gif[/img]

Vicky and her videos reminded me of how much I love ballet and of course I now want my dolls to be ballerinas too. [img]graemlins/star.gif[/img]

Just recently, I asked for opnions on which blonde doll I should get. I love all the responses and of course you all have made me want all of the dolls now. Since I am running out of room to display my dolls, I will still be getting only one doll and considering all of the lovely pics people have poste of #24, she will most likely be my choice. Not so much for dolls, for me, but for outfits!

I didn't have any 18" dolls before I found the board, even though I already had my eyes on AGT #22. Then when the Jess info was realeased, I knew I'd be getting her for DD (since she's homeschooled too).

We're happy with the two we have, and really have no desire to get more dolls right now. My weakness is for the outfits/accessories! I can't even tell you how much I've spent on ebay tracking down some of the retired outfits I've seen in many of the albums on this board!

I had three dolls when I joined last Octobre, and I thought I had a lot. I actually felt guilty about it too, since I am an adult collector who never had them as a girl (They didn't come out until I was 13) and doesn't have any children as a cover either! Then I found this place, and now I have 10!!! Plus two bitties, a mini Sam, and Coconut! I can't even guess how many outfits I have, and by last count, I should have near 100 pairs of shoes. ( I likey the shoes!) So if you wanted a single word on how enabling this board is, it would be: EXTREMELY!!!!

This board definitely made me buy lots of stuff. If I hadn't come here, in fact, I would have SOLD Kirsten on eBay (!). (No, I would never do such a thing now.) This board has inspired me to buy:
Addy's Striped Dress (clearance)
Doll dress form
Kirsten's Summer Dress and Red Boots (HBer gave me a link to the eBay auction)
Samantha's Stereoscope (liked it but the reviews pushed me over)
Nellie doll (I was sort of thinking about it but the board pushed me over, effectively saying that I HAD to buy a doll when I went to AGPLA)
Of course, I never would've gone to AGPLA in the first place if it weren't for the board.

I bought Kirsten's Midsummer Outfit in part because of the board as well (I'd had some interest in it, but then someone posted that it MAY someday be retiring...)

AND, the board got me interested enough in AG, that I started selling my mom on Kit, so now SHE has Kit and Kit's typewriter. Indirectly, this board has also made my friend buy Samantha's Summer Outfit and the matching boots, and a doll hairbrush, because she had a Samantha that she wanted to take care of, moreso after I started talking AG to her. BUT, I'm going to try to avoid BUYING stuff for a while, now...I DO have a lot of fabric to MAKE clothes though. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

If it weren't for this board I would never have seen how pretty #25 is. Most of AG's pictures of her are terrible! [img]graemlins/thumbs_down.gif[/img]

I actually joined the board when I saw how excellent your sleuthing skills were in finding Emily (I wanted to see the advance pictures of Ruthie, you see). Back then I would have been content with just Ruthie. But then I went INSANE in the MEMBRANE and now I want (to name a few) Felicity, Nellie, Molly, Emily, and pretty well all of Kit's items. Before I wanted only Kit's swimsuit, baseball outfit, pajamas, and meet accessories.

You enablers!

PS: Kenshinchan, when is there going to be a Kirsten's adventures update? I can't wait to see Nellie!

...Well let me tell you this story about a HB memebr that will celebrate her one-year membership anniversary on the board on July 25th of this year....2004 she has no dolls...2005 she came to HB with 15...and now:

This board is completely enabling! I have dramatically increased my wish list # of items since joining here just a few weeks ago. More importantly, seeing all of your beautiful albums has inspired me to:
1. learn how to use the digital camera & upload photos (DH is supposed to teach me this weekend)
2. hopefully create a theme set of dollies (looking more & more like the Nancy Drew girls) which I can then share in an album (don't hold your breath as this project may take awhile to complete!)
3. let myself completely enjoy AG dolls and feel great about this wonderful hobby we are all so invested in.
